Veeam Marks a Decade as Leader in Gartner Magic Quadrant for Backup & Data Protection

Veeam

Veeam Software has once again been recognized as a Leader in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Backup & Data Protection Platforms, marking its 10th consecutive year in the Leaders Quadrant. The company was also positioned highest in the Ability to Execute category for the seventh straight year, underscoring its continued leadership in data resilience and protection.

The announcement, made on July 1, 2026, highlights Veeam’s growing focus on what it calls “Data and AI Trust,” as enterprises accelerate adoption of artificial intelligence and agentic systems. With IT environments becoming more complex and AI agents interacting directly with enterprise data, organizations are increasingly prioritizing the need for secure, governed, and resilient data infrastructures.

“To trust data in the AI era, organizations must go beyond backup and recovery to fully understand, secure, and govern their data,” said Anand Eswaran, CEO of Veeam.

Veeam’s platform is designed to deliver a unified trust layer that integrates data security, governance, compliance, privacy, and resilience. This approach enables enterprises to manage both structured and unstructured data across production and backup environments, ensuring they can recover critical data quickly and confidently in the event of disruptions.

The recognition from Gartner follows a year of significant innovation for Veeam, including its acquisition of Securiti AI and enhancements to its product portfolio. Among the key developments is the integration of the DataAI Command Graph, which strengthens data classification and security posture management across live and backup environments. This enables organizations to apply precise policies, improve compliance, and prioritize data recovery during cyber incidents.

Veeam has also expanded its capabilities in cyber resilience through Coveware, offering 24/7 incident response services and cyber extortion readiness support. Additionally, the introduction of a hardened Linux-based backup appliance eliminates dependence on Windows systems while incorporating built-in security features such as multi-factor authentication and immutable storage.

As AI adoption accelerates, Veeam highlights a growing gap between the speed of AI innovation and the ability of organizations to govern and protect the data these systems rely on. The company aims to address this challenge by helping enterprises build stronger visibility, control, and recovery capabilities across the entire data lifecycle.

With over 550,000 customers worldwide, including nearly 80% of Fortune 500 companies, Veeam continues to play a critical role in enabling organizations to strengthen resilience, mitigate cyber risks, and support secure AI-driven transformation.
