Veeam Software has announced the general availability of Veeam Data Platform v13.1, introducing new capabilities designed to help enterprises recover faster from cyberattacks while ensuring trusted data recovery across hybrid IT environments.
The latest release expands support for six additional hypervisor platforms, enhances malware scanning for NAS workloads, strengthens cloud threat detection, and introduces deeper protection for enterprise applications including EPIC EHR, Db2 for Windows, and Oracle. The update is aimed at helping organizations improve cyber resilience while reducing operational complexity.
According to Veeam, despite high confidence in cyber recovery, fewer than one-third of ransomware victims successfully recover all their data. Veeam Data Platform v13.1 addresses this gap by combining backup, security, and recovery into a unified platform that validates clean restore points before recovery, enabling organizations to resume operations with greater confidence.

Among the key enhancements are expanded hypervisor support for platforms including Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization, Citrix XenServer, XCP-ng, Sangfor aSV, VergeIO, and Platform9. The platform also introduces Active Directory Forest Recovery, broader Azure threat detection, malware scanning for NAS environments, and post-quantum cryptography aligned with NIST standards.
The release further improves long-term storage efficiency by enabling direct archival of NAS backups to AWS S3 Glacier, Azure Archive, and other archival storage tiers, helping organizations lower storage costs while meeting compliance requirements.
With v13.1, Veeam continues its strategy of evolving beyond traditional backup into a comprehensive data resilience platform, helping enterprises safeguard critical workloads, simplify compliance, and build trusted data foundations for AI-driven business operations.
