Veeam Unveils Data Cloud Vault Archive for Secure, Cost-Effective Long-Term Backup Retention

Veeam

Veeam Software has introduced Veeam Data Cloud Vault Archive, a new archival cloud storage tier designed to help organizations securely retain long-term backup data while significantly reducing storage costs. The solution extends the Veeam Data Cloud Vault portfolio by enabling enterprises to archive aging backup data without compromising security, compliance or recoverability.

As businesses generate increasing volumes of data and face stricter regulatory requirements, retaining inactive or rarely accessed backup data on premium storage has become both expensive and inefficient. Veeam Data Cloud Vault Archive addresses this challenge by automatically moving older backups, including redundant, obsolete and trivial (ROT) data, to a lower-cost archival tier while keeping them encrypted, immutable and logically air-gapped.

Integrated with Veeam Data Platform v13.1, the solution allows organizations to automate policy-based data tiering, archive large NAS workloads, validate clean restore points before archival, and strengthen cyber resilience through adherence to Veeam’s 3-2-1-1-0 backup strategy.

“Data powers organizations, and trusted AI requires trusted data. Long-term retention has become a cyber resilience, compliance and cost challenge. Veeam Data Cloud Vault Archive enables customers to securely move aging backups and cold data off premium storage while keeping it immutable, recoverable and compliant for the long term.”

— Rehan Jalil, President of Products and Technology, Veeam

The platform also offers customer-controlled encryption keys, flexible data residency options and support for compliance-driven long-term retention policies. Designed as a modern alternative to tape-based archiving, Veeam Vault Archive eliminates the operational complexity of physical media while delivering secure, cloud-based archival storage with on-demand accessibility.

Available globally through Veeam’s partner ecosystem and cloud marketplaces, Veeam Data Cloud Vault Archive reflects the company’s continued focus on data resilience and AI trust. The solution enables organizations to optimize storage economics, simplify governance, and maintain trusted recovery copies that are ready when needed, helping enterprises balance compliance, cyber resilience and operational efficiency in increasingly data-intensive environments.
