As enterprises expand the use of generative AI across decision-making and analytics workflows, a new challenge is emerging: providing AI models with trusted business context rather than disconnected data. Qlik is addressing this challenge by making its Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server available through Anthropic’s Claude Directory, enabling organizations to connect governed enterprise data and analytics workflows directly to Claude.
The move reflects a broader shift in enterprise AI adoption. While organizations have embraced large language models for productivity and analysis, many struggle to ensure that AI-generated insights are grounded in trusted business data, established metrics, and governance frameworks. Without that context, AI systems can produce inconsistent results and create new governance risks.
Qlik’s integration is designed to bridge that gap. Through MCP, Claude users can access governed data, lineage information, trust signals, business metrics, and existing analytical logic stored in Qlik Cloud. Rather than recreating business rules through prompts or external tools, users can leverage existing enterprise knowledge and controls.
“Customers adopting Claude want more than an LLM hooked to raw records. They want Claude to work with governed business context, existing metrics, and data workflows with enterprise controls.”
— Josh Good, VP, Corporate Strategy, Qlik
The announcement also expands Claude’s role beyond conversational AI. Organizations can use the integration to search datasets and data products, understand analytics expressions and scripts, query governed enterprise data, and generate dashboards, sheets, and visualizations using natural language. This positions AI as an operational analytics layer rather than simply an information retrieval tool.
Security and governance remain central to the strategy. The platform uses OAuth-based authentication and existing Qlik Cloud permissions, enabling enterprises to maintain established access controls while extending AI capabilities into analytical environments.
For CIOs and data leaders, the significance is clear. As AI increasingly becomes embedded in business processes, success will depend less on model performance and more on the quality and governance of the data supporting those models. Qlik’s integration with Claude reflects a growing industry trend toward context-aware AI, where governed data, trusted metrics, and enterprise controls become foundational to scaling AI responsibly across the organization.
