New EmployeeWorks capabilities introduce personalised AI assistants, autonomous productivity routines and ToolSmith to accelerate enterprise automation.
ServiceNow has unveiled the third generation of its employee-centric AI platform, ServiceNow EmployeeWorks, enabling employees to build and deploy AI agents without coding. The enhancements aim to move enterprise AI beyond task assistance towards autonomous execution of routine work, while maintaining governance and security controls.
The upgraded platform introduces Productivity Assistants for specialised, role-based tasks and Productivity Routines that automate predictable activities in the background. Its new ToolSmith development environment allows developers to create enterprise AI tools through natural-language instructions, potentially reducing development cycles from weeks to minutes.
Productivity Assistants can handle research, approvals, HR services and cross-system workflows. Initial HR Service Delivery applications include Talent Insights Assistant, HR Business Partner Assistant and Manager Assistant, supporting recruitment insights, employee programmes and team performance management.
EmployeeWorks also offers Research and Calendaring Assistants. These can investigate questions across internal and external sources, prepare documents and presentations, manage complex scheduling requirements, resolve calendar conflicts and coordinate meetings.
“AI’s real promise is to close the gap between intention and action. ServiceNow EmployeeWorks makes that shift possible by helping employees spend less time on coordination and more time solving customer problems.”
Productivity Routines allow employees to automate recurring tasks without understanding APIs or backend systems. For example, a sales leader can deploy an agent to research upcoming client meetings and prepare customised sales material before the meeting begins.
ToolSmith complements this approach by enabling developers to build integrations and tools using natural language. Trained on more than 75,000 APIs, it can plan implementations, test integrations, analyse logs and recommend fixes.
A new Conversations API will extend EmployeeWorks capabilities into third-party and internal applications, kiosks and other AI environments.
Bhavin Shah, Senior Vice President, Employee Experience Group, ServiceNow, said the platform combines agentic planning with governed, auditable workflows and employee context.
The new capabilities, including Productivity Assistants, Productivity Routines, ToolSmith and Conversations API, are currently in controlled availability.
