New solution combines document authentication, facial recognition and visitor management to improve identity assurance across critical facilities
As organizations face increasing security and compliance requirements, HID, Soloinsight and Connected Technology Solutions (CTS) have introduced an integrated self-service visitor check-in kiosk designed to provide stronger identity verification and streamlined visitor management for enterprises and critical infrastructure environments.
The solution combines HID’s ATOM document reader and U.ARE.U facial recognition module with Soloinsight’s CloudGate visitor management and Physical Identity and Access Management (PIAM) platform. Together, they enable organizations to authenticate visitor identities before issuing access credentials, creating a more secure and auditable visitor experience.

The system addresses a longstanding challenge in visitor management. While many facilities rely on manual ID checks or self-service registration, these approaches often provide limited assurance that visitors are who they claim to be. The new kiosk verifies identity documents, performs live facial verification and records each interaction in a centralized system for compliance and investigation purposes.
The process begins with pre-registration through CloudGate, which sends visitors a QR-code invitation. Upon arrival, visitors scan the code, authenticate their identity using the HID ATOM reader and complete facial verification through the HID U.ARE.U Face Module. Once verified, a visitor pass is printed automatically and the host is notified.
The platform also supports more than 40 compliance frameworks, including GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001, while integrating with existing physical access control and security systems.
