MoU with MEWA links cloud modernisation, AI readiness, cyber resilience and local skills development.
Saudi Arabia’s digital transformation is increasingly moving beyond the adoption of individual technologies towards building resilient, flexible and future-ready digital infrastructure. The latest collaboration between Nutanix and the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MEWA) reflects this broader shift.
The two organisations have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to explore the modernisation of MEWA’s digital infrastructure through hybrid multicloud technologies, while strengthening business continuity, disaster recovery, cybersecurity and national technical capabilities.
The agreement highlights a growing priority for government organisations: creating infrastructure capable of supporting both existing applications and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence without becoming locked into a single operating environment.
“Through this MoU, we look forward to exploring opportunities to enhance our digital infrastructure, strengthen business continuity and develop national capabilities in advanced cloud and AI technologies,” said Dr. Abdullhameed Abdullah Aleliwi, Deputy Minister for Information Technology and Digital Transformation at Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture.
Under the proposed collaboration, Nutanix will support MEWA in exploring infrastructure that enables applications and workloads to operate across data centres and different cloud environments. The objective is to improve flexibility and mobility while maintaining the security and resilience required for critical government operations.
Artificial intelligence is another important dimension of the partnership. As public-sector organisations prepare for wider AI adoption, the underlying infrastructure will play a crucial role in determining how effectively these technologies can be deployed, managed and scaled.
Equally significant is the emphasis on knowledge transfer and local talent development. The MoU aims to strengthen Saudi technical expertise in hybrid multicloud computing and modern infrastructure management, supporting the Kingdom’s wider technology localisation ambitions.
For Nutanix, the partnership reinforces the strategic importance of Saudi Arabia’s public-sector digital transformation. For MEWA, it represents an opportunity to build a more agile technology foundation—one designed not only for today’s services, but for the AI-driven demands of tomorrow.
