“Microsoft Appoints Amr Kamel to Lead UAE Operations”

Veteran Executive to Drive National AI and Cloud Innovation Agenda

Microsoft has announced the appointment of Amr Kamel as General Manager for the United Arab Emirates, effective July 1, 2025. Kamel succeeds Naim Yazbeck, who will take on the role of President of Microsoft Middle East & Africa.

With nearly two decades of experience at Microsoft, Kamel brings a wealth of regional expertise and a proven track record in driving digital transformation. In his new role, he will spearhead Microsoft’s efforts to support the UAE’s national priorities in cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and sustainable economic growth.

Kamel previously served as General Manager – Global Partner Solutions across Central & Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. He played a pivotal role in expanding Microsoft’s partner ecosystem and led the strategic alliance with UAE-based AI powerhouse G42. This collaboration resulted in a sovereign cloud solution tailored for the public sector and regulated industries, ensuring secure and compliant AI innovation.

Known for his inclusive leadership and commitment to people development, Kamel has held transformative roles across the region, including leading enterprise commercial operations in South Africa. His appointment comes at a time when the UAE is accelerating its digital and AI ambitions, and Microsoft is committed to supporting this journey.

As General Manager, Kamel will focus on deepening Microsoft’s partnership with the UAE government, advancing innovation in sectors such as healthcare, energy, education, and finance. He will also champion Microsoft’s initiative to skill one million people in the UAE with AI capabilities by 2027.
