The cybersecurity veteran brings more than 20 years of experience across McAfee, FireEye, LogRhythm, Exabeam and spiderSilk as regional demand grows for governed, AI-driven security operations.

Securonix has appointed Essam Ahmed as Senior Sales Director for the Middle East and Africa (MEA), strengthening its regional leadership as enterprises and government organisations look to modernise security operations amid rising cyber threats, cloud adoption and the growing use of artificial intelligence.

Ahmed will lead regional sales strategy, partner development and customer growth, with a focus on expanding adoption of Securonix Unified Defense SIEM and its AI-powered security operations capabilities. He will work with CIOs, CISOs and channel partners to help organisations improve threat detection, investigation and response while maintaining governance and human oversight.

The appointment comes as security operations centres face mounting pressure to manage growing volumes of security alerts, increasingly complex IT environments and threats that can move faster than traditional investigation processes. AI is emerging as a means of improving analyst productivity and accelerating response, but organisations also need clear controls over automated decisions and actions.

“Security leaders are investing in AI and cloud while remaining accountable for resilience, efficiency and control.” — Essam Ahmed, Senior Sales Director, Middle East and Africa, Securonix

Ahmed brings more than two decades of cybersecurity experience and has supported customers across more than 30 countries. His career includes leadership roles at McAfee, FireEye, LogRhythm, Exabeam and spiderSilk, giving him experience across security technology, regional sales execution and enterprise customer engagement.

At FireEye, he led systems engineering across the Middle East, Turkey and Africa. During his tenure, his team helped reduce proof-of-value cycles from approximately 120 days to two weeks, highlighting the potential of more efficient technical evaluation and deployment processes to accelerate customer decisions.

He subsequently drove regional revenue growth at LogRhythm and Exabeam, earning three President’s Club awards. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Global Sales at spiderSilk.

“Customers across MEA are asking for security programs that can keep pace with rapid technology adoption and produce measurable outcomes,” said Cyrille Badeau, Vice President – EMEA at Securonix. He added that Ahmed’s experience building teams, enabling partners and supporting enterprise and government customers would help the company deepen relationships and expand its regional presence.

For Securonix, partner development will be a central part of the regional growth strategy. Its MEA ecosystem includes DigiGlass by Redington, AmiViz, StarLink, HelpAG, RNS Technology and Cyberdome. These partners provide access to regional expertise and managed security services, supporting customer engagement and the deployment of security operations technologies.

The channel strategy is particularly relevant in markets where organisations need technology providers that understand local requirements, regulatory considerations and existing security infrastructure. Strong partner relationships can also help bridge the gap between acquiring a security platform and integrating it into operational workflows.

Ahmed said his priority would be to help customers translate investment in AI and cloud into measurable improvements in security outcomes. “My focus will be on helping customers turn that investment into stronger detection, faster investigation and governed response,” he said, adding that he would work closely with Securonix’s regional partners to demonstrate the practical value of its platform.

Securonix positions its Unified Defense SIEM around the integration of detection, investigation and response, with Agentic AI designed to support decisions and actions across the threat lifecycle. Its approach retains a human-in-the-loop philosophy, reflecting the need to balance automation with accountability in security operations.

The company also offers Sam, its AI SOC Analyst, and a productivity-based AI operating model intended to help organisations measure AI value through the analyst work it delivers. This focus addresses a key question facing security leaders: whether AI can reduce investigation workloads and improve response times without weakening oversight.

As enterprises across the Middle East and Africa modernise their security operations, the competitive challenge for cybersecurity providers will increasingly be to demonstrate operational results rather than simply add new capabilities. Faster investigations, improved detection accuracy, more efficient use of analysts and clearly governed automated responses are among the outcomes customers will seek.

Ahmed’s appointment signals Securonix’s intention to build on its regional partner network and expand engagement with enterprise and government customers. Its success will depend on translating the growing interest in AI-enabled security into deployments that deliver measurable improvements while preserving human control over critical security decisions.
