NTT DATA Appoints Vinesh Maharaj to Spearhead Smart Manufacturing in MEA

New leadership reflects NTT DATA’s deepening focus on transforming the manufacturing sector across the Middle East and Africa

NTT DATA has appointed Vinesh Maharaj as the Director of Smart Manufacturing & Industry for the Middle East and Africa (MEA), reinforcing the company’s strategic expansion across key industry verticals. This move follows the successful launch of NTT DATA’s Retail and Financial Services practices in 2024, with Manufacturing now taking center stage.

Maharaj brings over three decades of expertise in industrial automation, IT/OT integration, and predictive AI. He is a registered professional engineer and certified director, with leadership experience spanning energy, automotive, consumer goods, and manufacturing. His recent role as a management consultant at a Big 4 firm, coupled with his involvement in SAIMC, highlights his deep industry influence.

“This appointment underscores our commitment to strengthening leadership in high-potential growth markets.”

— Alan Turnley-Jones, CEO, NTT DATA MEA

Globally valued at over $16 trillion, manufacturing is a cornerstone of economic growth. In Africa, although the sector currently contributes about 10% to GDP, new policies, localised strategies, and digital investment are poised to accelerate its expansion.

Yet, digital transformation in manufacturing is far from easy. Legacy infrastructure, siloed systems, and growing cyber risks pose serious hurdles. Maharaj’s appointment signals NTT DATA’s intent to address these challenges head-on—offering integrated, AI-powered solutions that modernize operations and embed sustainability into the industrial fabric.

With NTT DATA’s global reach and Maharaj’s regional acumen, manufacturers across MEA are set to benefit from transformative capabilities that will define the future of smart, sustainable industry.
