New cold‑storage tier gives MSPs and SMBs compliant, cost‑predictable retention with zero hidden cloud fees

Acronis has introduced Acronis Archival Storage, a new long‑term data retention solution designed to help MSPs and their SMB customers store large volumes of infrequently accessed data securely, compliantly and without unpredictable cloud costs. Announced on 15 January 2026, the solution provides a durable, S3‑compatible cold‑storage option integrated directly into the Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud platform.

The new archival tier is built for organisations facing mounting regulatory requirements and growing data volumes. Acronis Archival Storage delivers 11×9 durability, 99.5% availability, millisecond retrieval, encryption and immutability (WORM) — all with a predictable pricing model that eliminates egress and API charges common in major public cloud offerings.

“With Acronis Archival Storage, MSPs can now offer long‑term retention built for compliance readiness, cost predictability and ease of use.” — Gaidar Magdanurov, President, Acronis

Gaidar Magdanurov, President at Acronis, said the rise in compliance-driven data retention has made predictable long‑term storage essential. “Regulations require customers to keep data for years. MSPs need a secure, reliable and cost‑stable solution, and Acronis Archival Storage delivers that with native integration into our cyber protection ecosystem,” he said.

The solution offers unified management through Acronis billing, S3 API support, and simple deployment via preconfigured plans. Seven globally distributed data centres ensure improved connectivity and regional compliance coverage.

“Our partnership ensures archival data remains protected and accessible for compliance, AI and more — with economic predictability and peace of mind.” — Melyssa Banda, SVP, Seagate

Acronis aims to solve the longstanding challenges businesses face when using tape-based or traditional cloud storage. Tape is slow, expensive to manage and difficult to search; public cloud archives often surprise users with retrieval fees. Archival Storage avoids these issues by providing a low‑maintenance, cold‑storage tier that supports audits, investigations and AI‑driven data analysis with rapid, consistent access.

Melyssa Banda, SVP at Seagate, emphasised the value for long‑term protection. “Data’s true value comes from secure preservation and easy access. Paired with Seagate Lyve Cloud, Acronis ensures this with predictable cost and strong compliance posture,” she said.

For MSPs, the new offering opens opportunities to expand service portfolios and build predictable margins, while delivering end‑to‑end data management with a native cold‑storage tier.
