GMI Cloud, a leading provider of AI-native GPU cloud infrastructure, has announced a strategic partnership with Magna AI Inc. to design, deploy, and scale a global network of sovereign AI factories (AIFs). The initiative will support governments and enterprises seeking secure, high-performance AI infrastructure while maintaining data sovereignty and operational control.
The collaboration will initially focus on projects in Malaysia, Belgium, and Romania, with construction expected to begin later this year. Additional deployments across the Middle East and Africa are currently under consideration, reflecting growing global demand for sovereign AI capabilities.
“A nation’s prosperity and security are at risk if it cannot control its own digital destiny… sovereign AI is a non-negotiable component of modern statecraft,” said Alex Yeh, CEO of GMI Cloud.
At the core of the partnership is a next-generation AI factory model built around NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72™ architecture. These AI factories will provide dedicated computing capacity, GPU cloud services, and integrated AI security solutions to meet the needs of large-scale AI deployments. The approach is designed to accelerate digital transformation while ensuring compliance with regional data governance regulations.
The partnership combines the strengths of multiple industry leaders. GMI Cloud brings expertise in AI-native infrastructure and large-scale GPU cloud environments, while Magna AI provides a full-stack transformation platform spanning infrastructure, applications, and services. Magna AI itself is backed by a collaboration between Trend Micro and Wistron Digital Technology Holding Company (WDH), adding advanced cybersecurity and hardware integration capabilities.
“Through this partnership, we are enabling nations to build, control, and scale their own intelligence infrastructure with confidence… deploying AI systems that are secure, resilient, and built for long-term independence,” added Dr. Moataz Binali, CEO of Magna AI.
Trend Micro’s decades of cybersecurity expertise will help secure AI workloads and critical national data, while WDH’s hardware manufacturing and systems integration capabilities will ensure efficient deployment of complex AI infrastructure. Together, the partners aim to create a vertically integrated ecosystem for sovereign AI development.
The initiative comes amid a global push for digital sovereignty, with governments increasingly prioritizing control over their data and AI systems. Rising concerns around reliance on foreign platforms, regulatory complexities, and supply chain risks are driving investments in national AI infrastructure.
By offering an end-to-end “AI transformation factory” model, the partnership aims to help countries move from strategy to execution faster. The AI factories will support advanced use cases such as large-scale inference, agentic AI systems, and national AI platforms, all within secure, compliant environments.
This collaboration positions GMI Cloud and Magna AI at the forefront of sovereign AI infrastructure development, enabling nations and enterprises to build scalable, resilient, and future-ready AI ecosystems tailored to their strategic and economic priorities.
