AESG Expands Mission Critical Division to Tap US$470 Million Data Centre Consultancy Market

AESG

AESG has announced the expansion of its Mission Critical division, strengthening its capabilities to deliver end-to-end data centre consultancy services across the GCC. The move comes as the regional data centre market continues to surge, driven by cloud adoption, AI workloads, and increasing demand for hyperscale infrastructure.

With experience in delivering 27 data centres globally, AESG is now broadening its offering to include full multidisciplinary, integrated design delivery. This positions the company to support clients across the entire project lifecycle—from early-stage advisory and feasibility studies to design, commissioning, and operational readiness.

The expansion is aligned with strong market momentum. The GCC data centre sector, valued at approximately US$3.5 billion in 2024, is projected to reach US$9.4 billion by 2030, with the consultancy segment alone estimated at US$470 million. Against this backdrop, AESG is focusing on addressing persistent industry challenges, particularly cost overruns and project delays, which affect a significant portion of mission critical developments.

A core differentiator of AESG’s approach lies in its integrated delivery model. By combining expertise across mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP), structural engineering, cost management, sustainability, and commissioning within a single team, the firm enables early-stage coordination and continuous validation. This helps identify design clashes early, maintain budget control, and ensure buildability throughout the project lifecycle.

Power availability remains a key constraint in the region, with grid connection timelines often extending up to three years. AESG addresses this by conducting early feasibility studies, designing substations where necessary, and exploring hybrid energy solutions such as solar and battery storage. Its established relationships with regional authorities further support efficient infrastructure planning.

Sustainability is another central pillar of the expansion. As data centres become major consumers of energy and water, AESG is leveraging advanced modelling techniques to improve efficiency and reduce environmental impact, particularly as AI-driven workloads increase demand.

The division will be led by industry veterans Steve Liong and Ferruh Ertekin, bringing decades of global expertise.

With plans to scale across the Middle East, Europe, and Asia-Pacific, AESG aims to position itself as a key partner for delivering resilient, future-ready data centre infrastructure in a rapidly evolving digital economy.
