Saudi Arabia’s first enterprise data governance platform positions itself at the heart of Vision 2030’s AI ambitions
Governata, the Kingdom’s first enterprise Data Management and Governance platform, has raised $4 million in Seed funding from leading venture capital firms and prominent angel investors. This milestone underscores Saudi Arabia’s commitment to building a data-driven, AI-enabled economy and accelerates Governata’s expansion across the Kingdom and the Middle East.
The funding round saw participation from Joa Capital, abtal.vc, Sanabil Accelerator by 500 Global, Sadu Capital, Plus VC, Hyperscope Ventures, A-Typical Ventures, and Plug and Play, reflecting strong confidence in Governata’s mission to enable organizations to govern data responsibly and unlock its full value in the age of AI-driven decision-making.
“Great AI can only be built on great data.” – Khalid Almudayfir, Co-Founder, Governata
Governata is the first Arabic-first enterprise data governance platform built to align with National Data Management Office (NDMO) guidelines, the National Data Index (NDI), and the Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL). Its AI-powered software strengthens data quality, compliance, and classification—critical foundations for trustworthy and scalable AI adoption.
“Governata is turning Saudi Arabia’s AI vision into reality,” said Khalid Almudayfir, Co-Founder of Governata. “This funding accelerates our mission to make the Kingdom a global leader in responsible, AI-ready data through tangible, scalable impact.”
Since mid-2025, Governata has signed agreements with major government entities and leading private-sector organizations, while forging partnerships with technology providers and system integrators to expand its ecosystem. The next phase will integrate advanced Machine Learning and Generative AI models into its architecture, enabling faster, more accurate enterprise decision-making while ensuring full data localization and protection.
Governata will host an invite-only event in February 2026 in Riyadh, bringing together government leaders, AI experts, and investors to showcase how data governance is becoming the cornerstone of the region’s AI transformation.
