Landmark deployment will support secure, scalable AI compute for regulated industries across Europe
AI powerhouse iGenius has announced the upcoming launch of Colosseum, one of the world’s largest sovereign AI data centers, built in collaboration with Vertiv and NVIDIA. Located in southern Italy and set for deployment later this year, the facility is engineered to serve the demanding needs of regulated sectors including finance, healthcare, and public administration.
Powered by NVIDIA DGX SuperPODs with the cutting-edge Grace Blackwell Superchips, Colosseum will deliver sovereign AI compute at hyperscale — blending energy efficiency, data sovereignty, and system-level intelligence.
“Colosseum is not just a data center. It’s the blueprint for scalable, repeatable sovereign AI factories.”
— Uljan Sharka, CEO, iGenius
The infrastructure is built on Vertiv’s AI-ready 360AI platform, offering scalable, modular support for high-density liquid-cooled racks (up to 132kW per rack), alongside NVIDIA Omniverse-based digital twin capabilities for real-time simulation and accelerated deployment. This ensures faster rollout, reduced design-to-deploy cycles, and predictive maintenance — key to mission-critical operations.
The deployment is a first-of-its-kind in Europe, with Colosseum strategically positioned to support AI innovation across the region while addressing compliance with increasingly strict data governance regulations such as GDPR and the EU’s AI Act.
Vertiv’s role includes full delivery of prefabricated power, cooling, and orchestration infrastructure, while NVIDIA’s Omniverse and Mission Control platforms ensure unified visibility, system optimization, and real-time synchronization across compute and facility operations.
“We’re proving that the data center is now the core compute unit of AI,” added Karsten Winther, President, Vertiv EMEA. “Together with NVIDIA and iGenius, we’re accelerating the adoption of sovereign AI at scale.”
Enterprise IT World MEA understands that Colosseum is not a standalone initiative but part of a replicable framework, positioning iGenius, Vertiv, and NVIDIA to deliver similar sovereign AI factories globally.
