Vertiv Completes $1 Billion Acquisition of PurgeRite, Expanding Global Leadership in Liquid Cooling Services

Vertiv

Move strengthens Vertiv’s thermal management portfolio as AI and high-density computing accelerate demand for advanced fluid management

Vertiv has officially completed its approximately $1.0 billion acquisition of PurgeRite, a leading provider of mechanical flushing, purging, and filtration services for mission-critical data center facilities. The move significantly strengthens Vertiv’s position in next-generation thermal chain services, particularly as AI factories and HPC environments rapidly shift toward liquid cooling to manage unprecedented thermal loads.

The acquisition, first announced earlier this year, enhances Vertiv’s ability to deliver specialized fluid management services that are essential to the performance, reliability, and longevity of liquid-cooled systems. As high-density racks and GPU-accelerated clusters proliferate across hyperscale and colocation environments, ensuring ultra-clean, chemically stable, and air-free coolant loops has become critical for maximizing heat transfer efficiency.

“PurgeRite’s specialized expertise in fluid management services complements our existing portfolio and enhances our ability to provide end-to-end support for high-density computing and AI applications,” said Gio Albertazzi, CEO, Vertiv.

Based in Houston, Texas, PurgeRite has built deep expertise and strong relationships with hyperscalers and Tier 1 colocation providers, offering engineered processes that support the entire thermal chain — from chillers to coolant distribution units (CDUs) and rack-level cooling components. Its ability to scale quickly for complex deployments makes it a natural complement to Vertiv’s expanding liquid cooling portfolio.

Vertiv expects the integration to unlock several key customer benefits: improved cooling performance through cleaner fluid systems, reduced downtime risk through operational excellence, and consistent service delivery at global scale. By combining PurgeRite’s proprietary flushing and filtration capabilities with Vertiv’s thermal management technologies, customers will gain streamlined, end-to-end lifecycle support for liquid cooling deployments.

The acquisition comes at a pivotal moment for the data center industry. AI workloads, massive model training clusters, and emerging “AI-first” facility designs are accelerating the transition from air-cooling to direct-to-chip and immersion-based liquid cooling models. Vertiv’s expanded service capabilities position it strongly to meet this surge in demand across cloud, enterprise, telecom, and industrial environments.

With PurgeRite now fully integrated, Vertiv reinforces its global leadership in mission-critical cooling, offering the comprehensive expertise required to support the next wave of high-density, AI-driven infrastructure.
