Check Point Research warns of a growing ransomware-as-a-service operation

A newly launched ransomware-as-a-service (RaaS) platform, VanHelsing RaaS, is quickly gaining traction in the cybercrime world. Just weeks after its March 7, 2025, debut, the operation has already infected multiple victims and released an upgraded ransomware variant, demonstrating its rapid evolution and increasing threat level.

“The emergence of VanHelsing RaaS is an indication of the increasing commercialization of cybercrime,” said Ram Narayanan, Country Manager at Check Point Software Technologies, Middle East. “As threat actors expand their reach and sophistication, it is imperative that organizations stay informed and prioritize cybersecurity from the boardroom to every endpoint.”

Check Point Research warns that VanHelsing RaaS is targeting multiple operating systems, including Windows, Linux, BSD, ARM, and ESXi, making it a versatile and dangerous tool for cybercriminals. Organizations are urged to bolster their defenses with advanced threat detection solutions like Check Point Threat Emulation and Harmony Endpoint.
