New integrated solution empowers Sophos MDR and XDR customers with secure, rapid recovery for Microsoft 365 data
In a strategic move to strengthen enterprise cyber resilience, Rubrik (NYSE: RBRK) and Sophos have announced a new partnership to launch Sophos M365 Backup and Recovery Powered by Rubrik. This marks the first MDR-optimized Microsoft 365 backup and recovery solution fully integrated into Sophos Central, the company’s unified security operations platform.
The offering is designed to help mid-market organizations protect and recover critical Microsoft 365 data—including SharePoint, Exchange, OneDrive, and Teams—from threats such as ransomware, insider attacks, and accidental deletion. It combines Sophos’ prevention-first security approach with Rubrik’s Zero Trust Data Security™ capabilities, delivering a seamless experience for over 75,000 Sophos MDR and XDR customers.
“The reality of today’s threat landscape demands a holistic approach to cyber resilience,” said Bipul Sinha, CEO and Co-founder of Rubrik. “With AI-enabled attacks on the rise, organizations need more than just prevention—they need the ability to recover rapidly and reliably. Our partnership with Sophos delivers that capability within a platform security teams already trust.”
The integration brings secure, immutable backups with air-gapped storage, WORM locks, and customer-held encryption keys. It also enables fast, flexible recovery of Microsoft 365 data to original or alternate users, including inactive accounts. Rubrik’s automated protection features—such as Entra ID-based policies and delegated admin support—reduce manual effort and streamline operations.
“This is the future of cyber resilience: an intelligent, adaptive partnership that ensures organizations remain secure, responsive, and uninterrupted.”
— Joe Levy, CEO, Sophos
Sophos Central, which already ingests telemetry from over 350 sources, will now offer Microsoft 365 protection natively, eliminating the need for additional tools. This unified experience enhances threat detection, response, and recovery across the entire attack surface.
According to Sophos’ State of Ransomware report, nearly half of affected organizations paid ransoms to recover data, yet only 54% relied on backups—highlighting a critical gap in resilience. With 60% of Microsoft 365 tenants experiencing account takeovers and 81% facing email compromise, the need for robust recovery solutions is urgent.
The new offering will be available through Sophos’ global channel partner network in the coming months.
