Department of Government Enablement and e& Partner to Launch Abu Dhabi Unified Government Data Centre

AI-ready data infrastructure to power over 40 government entities, accelerating Abu Dhabi’s journey toward the world’s first AI-native government

At GITEX Global 2025, the Department of Government Enablement (DGE), in partnership with e& enterprise, announced the launch of the Abu Dhabi Unified Government Data Centre — a state-of-the-art digital facility designed to host and secure critical data for more than 40 government entities.

Located in Khalifa City, the Unified Government Data Centre consolidates Abu Dhabi Government’s digital infrastructure, supported by a dedicated disaster recovery site in Al Ain, together offering 19 megawatts of secure, AI-ready capacity with 99.982% uptime.

“In our journey to a fully AI-native government, the ability to build and scale securely and at speed depends on trusted, unified infrastructure,” said His Excellency Wesam Lootah, Director General, DGE. “The Abu Dhabi Unified Government Data Centre ensures every government entity can innovate confidently on shared, sovereign data to strengthen collaboration and accelerate digital transformation.”

The partnership reinforces Abu Dhabi’s AED 13 billion Government Digital Strategy, part of its long-term plan to build the world’s first AI-native government by 2027. The new facility will provide Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and co-location services, ensuring high resilience, confidentiality, and operational continuity.

“Abu Dhabi has set a clear direction — a fully AI-native government by 2027,” said Masood M. Sharif Mahmood, CEO, e& enterprise. “In partnership with DGE, e& is providing the sovereign digital foundation — cloud, data, and connectivity — enabling every entity to deliver secure, interoperable AI services at scale. This marks the shift from AI pilots to policy-grade capability, enhancing service quality and driving Emirati innovation.”

Designed with fault-tolerant architectureredundant power systems, and advanced chilled-water cooling, the centre is certified to meet multiple global standards and incorporates renewable energy sources to ensure sustainable operations with a low Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.85.

Data migration to the new facility will begin in Q1 2026, marking a pivotal step toward an integrated, secure, and people-first digital government ecosystem that enhances collaboration and efficiency across Abu Dhabi’s public sector.

Abu Dhabi’s participation at GITEX Global 2025 underscores its leadership in AI-driven governance, showcasing projects and partnerships that redefine digital excellence and position the emirate as a global benchmark for smart government transformation.
