Commvault Expands HyperScale Portfolio with Edge and Flex to Strengthen Cyber Resilience

New solutions address rising edge vulnerabilities with flexibility, performance, and broad partner ecosystem

Commvault, a global leader in cyber resilience and data protection for hybrid cloud environments, has unveiled two new additions to its HyperScale portfolio — HyperScale Edge and HyperScale Flex. The solutions are designed to help enterprises safeguard data across edge environments, remote offices, and large-scale AI-driven workloads, reinforcing cyber resilience in the face of rising threats.

The launch comes against the backdrop of a growing security crisis at the edge. According to the 2024 Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report, breaches exploiting edge devices and VPNs surged to 22% — an eightfold increase in just one year. With this spike in cyberattacks, enterprises are under pressure to protect distributed data assets with stronger, more adaptable defenses.

“With the launch of HyperScale Edge and HyperScale Flex, we’re delivering the best of both worlds — flexibility and choice, combined with industry-leading cyber resilience.”

— Pranay Ahlawat, Chief Technology and AI Officer, Commvault

Building on the proven foundation of HyperScale X, Commvault’s new Edge and Flex offerings are delivered as software images that can be easily deployed on validated hardware, giving organizations flexibility while strengthening their defense posture.

HyperScale Edge is purpose-built for localized data protection and recovery in environments such as retail stores, branch offices, and distribution centers where IT resources and space are limited. Compatible with validated hardware from Dell, HPE, and Lenovo, the solution can be deployed via subscription or perpetual licensing models, providing options for organizations of varying scale.

HyperScale Flex, on the other hand, is engineered for industries with high-performance and large-capacity demands such as technology, telecom, and healthcare. It connects to external flash storage pools, with certified support for Pure Storage, VAST Data, and soon, HPE. This makes it ideally suited for AI/ML workloads and applications requiring multi-petabyte backup and recovery capabilities. Currently available to early adopters, the solution offers enterprises the scalability and resilience needed to secure modern workloads.

“With HyperScale Edge and HyperScale Flex, we are extending cyber resilience to every layer of the enterprise — from branch to data center to AI workloads,” added Ahlawat.

By partnering with global technology leaders and addressing diverse deployment needs, Commvault is positioning its HyperScale line as a critical enabler of secure, resilient, and flexible enterprise data protection.
