Cloudera Joins AI-RAN Alliance to Accelerate AI-Native Telecom Innovation

Cloudera to contribute data-driven AI expertise to global consortium advancing intelligent, real-time telecom networks

Cloudera has joined the AI-RAN Alliance, a global consortium of technology leaders including NVIDIA, Dell, SoftBank, T-Mobile, KT, and LG U+, to spearhead AI innovation in telecom infrastructure. The move strengthens Cloudera’s commitment to transforming telecommunications networks into AI-native, real-time platforms capable of advanced automation, edge intelligence, and hybrid MLOps at scale.

As AI becomes a central force in reducing operational costs and unlocking service innovation in telcos, challenges around deployment across distributed edge networks persist. The AI-RAN Alliance was established to overcome these hurdles by standardizing AI-RAN integration, enabling shared infrastructure, and accelerating real-world AI deployment.

“AI can unlock substantial value across the network—from margin growth to service transformation—and Cloudera is proud to bring its hybrid data and AI capabilities to the AI-RAN Alliance.”
— Abhas Ricky, Chief Strategy Officer, Cloudera

Cloudera, known for its true hybrid data and AI platform, joins the newly formed “Data for AI-RAN” working group, where it will help define standards for data orchestration, LLM-powered network automation, and hybrid MLOps that align AI with telecom operational needs.

Key Highlights of Cloudera’s Participation:

  • Working Group Leadership: Cloudera will help standardize data pipelines, orchestration models, and hybrid AI workflows for the telecom sector.
  • Real-World Deployment: The company will co-develop and validate reference architectures with alliance members, enabling pilots for AI applications like SLA-driven availability and real-time anomaly detection.
  • Scalable Edge AI: Leveraging its hybrid platform, Cloudera will demonstrate real-time decision-making at the edge, backed by robust governance, observability, and edge-to-core orchestration.
  • Alignment with AI-RAN Pillars: Cloudera’s efforts will support the alliance’s core objectives: AI-for-RAN, AI-on-RAN, and AI-and-RAN.

“As India’s telecom sector evolves toward intelligent networks, our hybrid platform provides the scale and agility required for AI-RAN convergence,” said Mayank Baid, Regional VP, India & South Asia, Cloudera. “Our collaboration will empower Indian telcos to align data pipelines with operational realities and transform data into actionable intelligence.”

The announcement drew praise from alliance leaders and partners. Jemin Chung, VP of Network Strategy at KT, noted that “secure and scalable data utilization will be the cornerstone of next-gen networks,” while Dr. Alex Jinsung Choi, Chair of the AI-RAN Alliance, lauded Cloudera’s telecom domain leadership and AI capabilities as a critical asset to the alliance’s growth and impact.

Cloudera’s entry into the AI-RAN Alliance underscores its strategic role in shaping adaptive, intelligent, and secure telecom networks of the future.
