AI Adoption Driving Smarter, More Resilient Supply Chains, Finds Global Epicor Study

Over half of supply chain firms report high AI readiness, investing in AI talent, data platforms, and scenario planning to navigate disruption

Epicor, in partnership with Nucleus Research, has released its 2025 Agility Index, highlighting how AI is reshaping supply chain strategies worldwide. The survey of more than 1,000 supply chain professionals reveals that 56% of organizations report high AI readiness, with many scaling AI workflows and modernizing their data systems to enhance resilience.

“AI is becoming an essential tool in helping supply chain businesses anticipate and respond to inevitable change,” said Kerrie Jordan, Chief Marketing Officer and Senior Vice President of Product at Epicor.

More than 90% of these AI-mature companies are investing in dedicated AI talent, with the most in-demand roles including AI Logistics & Route Optimization Specialists, AI Data Scientists, and AI Automation Engineers. Unlike past pilot-driven initiatives, these roles are now embedded directly into planning, fulfillment, and logistics functions.

The study also found that 50.6% of respondents have adopted platforms that unify and analyze operational data—making them 1.4 times more likely to deploy AI applications. Agility, once seen as a tactical measure, is now viewed as a strategic capability central to supply chain continuity.

Regional findings underscore rising uncertainty: in Southeast Asia, 61% of companies cited trade restrictions as the top risk, while 73% are reworking sourcing strategies. Globally, scenario planning, predictive analytics, and AI-driven forecasting are becoming key to supply chain resilience.

“AI is becoming an essential tool in helping supply chain businesses anticipate and respond to inevitable change,” said Kerrie Jordan, Chief Marketing Officer and Senior Vice President of Product at Epicor. “We’re seeing organizations unlock the agility needed to lead through disruption by not just deploying AI but by building a digital foundation and workforce behind it.”

Jordan added, “As AI matures and time to value approaches zero, supply chain leaders who invest now will make decisions in minutes, not months—outpacing competitors and driving stronger outcomes.”
