Qlik Surges Past Power BI in BARC’s Cloud Analytics Benchmark

Independent study shows Qlik Cloud Analytics delivers triple the user productivity and twice the throughput under load

In a decisive performance showdown, Qlik Cloud Analytics has emerged as the leader in cloud-based business intelligence, outperforming Microsoft Power BI in the inaugural BARC Benchmark. The independent study, conducted by the Business Application Research Center (BARC), evaluated both platforms under real-world cloud conditions and found Qlik superior in user throughput, response stability, and overall productivity.

BARC’s reproducible tests revealed that Qlik delivered three times faster response times than Power BI, enabling users to complete tasks with fewer clicks and quicker interactions. Even under heavy load—10 million rows and 50 concurrent users—Qlik sustained performance, completing twice as many sessions per hour while maintaining consistent speed. In contrast, Power BI showed greater variability as concurrency increased.

“Teams get to answers faster with Qlik—and keep that speed as usage rises.”

— Brendan Grady, EVP & GM, Qlik Analytics

Qlik scored a perfect 100 on BARC’s normalized index for both productivity and scalability, while Power BI lagged with an overall score of 40. The results underscore Qlik’s readiness for AI-driven workloads, where concurrency and data complexity are rapidly rising.

“People stick with analytics that feels fast and stays fast as load grows,” said Brendan Grady, EVP and GM of Qlik’s Analytics Business Unit. “These independent results show Qlik delivers the speed and consistency enterprises need to scale AI adoption.”

With over 40,000 global customers, Qlik continues to redefine enterprise analytics—combining intuitive design, robust data integration, and scalable AI/ML capabilities to unlock actionable insights across complex data landscapes.
