Industry veteran brings offensive security, cyber risk, and innovation expertise to steer global security strategy
BeyondTrust has named seasoned security executive Sean Malone as its new Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). The move marks a pivotal step in BeyondTrust’s ongoing mission to lead innovation in identity security and secure access management.
With over 15 years of experience across offensive security, cyber risk quantification, and executive cyber leadership, Malone will oversee BeyondTrust’s global security strategy—including product and service security, threat management, risk governance, and compliance.
“Security is not just central to BeyondTrust’s mission—BeyondTrust is essential to the broader security mission for the industry.”
—Sean Malone, Chief Information Security Officer, BeyondTrust
Malone’s career has spanned leading security operations at major organizations like Demandbase and Amazon Prime Video, where he built cyber resilience at scale. At VisibleRisk and BitSight, he specialized in quantifying cyber risk to enable smarter executive decision-making. A U.S. patent holder in cyber resilience assessment, Malone’s unique perspective blends deep technical skill with a strategic mindset.
“I am thrilled to welcome Sean to the BeyondTrust security team,” said Janine Seebeck, CEO at BeyondTrust. “His extensive background will be instrumental in ensuring BeyondTrust remains a security-first organization while helping customers solve complex real-world security challenges.”
Reflecting on his career, Malone noted, “I spent the first decade of my career as a red team operator simulating adversaries. What I’ve learned is that nearly every successful attack exploits a path to privilege. I’m excited to lead security at a company that exists to close those paths.”
Trusted by 20,000 customers, including 75 of the Fortune 100, BeyondTrust continues to define and lead the identity security market with its innovative, identity-centric solutions.
