Riverbed Unveils Major Acceleration Portfolio to Power AI-Driven Enterprises

New SteelHead solutions and Flex subscription model aim to tackle AI-era data congestion across networks

Riverbed has launched its most significant acceleration portfolio update in seven years, targeting the escalating data demands of AI-driven enterprises. The new suite, powered by RiOS 10 — Riverbed’s next-generation acceleration software — introduces ten SteelHead models designed to enhance performance, security, and agility across cloud, data center, and edge environments.

With enterprise data volumes surging 35% annually and AI applications placing unprecedented strain on networks, Riverbed’s enhanced SteelHead lineup includes the high-performance SteelHead 8090 (up to 60 Gbps), mid-range 6090, and edge-ready 4090 and 2090 models. These are complemented by SteelHead Virtual for private clouds, SteelHead RS for real-time edge-to-core synchronization, and a vastly expanded SteelHead Cloud offering compatible with AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and Oracle Cloud.

“With AI transforming business IT requirements, our solutions offer a proven return on investment by helping enterprises move data faster, optimize application performance, and strengthen resilience.”

— Dave Donatelli, CEO, Riverbed

“Network congestion is no longer just a nuisance—it’s a choke point that can cripple a business,” said Chalan Aras, SVP and GM of Acceleration at Riverbed. “Our new resilient networking solutions are purpose-built for the performance and agility demands of AI and next-gen workloads.”

A key innovation is Riverbed Flex — a new subscription model offering license portability across hardware, virtual, and cloud deployments. This architectural flexibility allows CIOs to adapt quickly to shifting infrastructure needs while improving ROI and TCO.

Most solutions will be generally available in May 2025, with select features rolling out later this year.
