Move aims to simplify database-backed app creation on Cloudflare Workers
Cloudflare has acquired developer-focused database startup Outerbase to make building intelligent, database-backed AI applications easier and more accessible across its platform. The acquisition is part of Cloudflare’s broader push to support the surge of AI and agent-driven software development.
“As AI transforms how software is built, we want to make it easy for developers of all skill levels to build fast, scalable applications,” said Matthew Prince, Cloudflare co-founder and CEO. “Outerbase’s technology will help us accelerate that mission.”
Outerbase, already built on Cloudflare Workers, will integrate directly with tools like Durable Objects and the Agents SDK. The goal: provide intuitive interfaces for managing data without requiring deep SQL expertise.
“This next step feels natural,” said Brandon Strittmatter, co-founder and CEO of Outerbase. “We’re excited to take what we’ve built and scale it globally as part of the Cloudflare platform.”
