Vertiv Upgrades SmartAisle for Edge Deployments in EMEA to Boost Energy Efficiency and Cut Costs

Giuseppe Leto

Pre-engineered solution supports up to 180kW IT load with integrated monitoring and faster deployment timelines

Vertiv has announced a major upgrade to its Vertiv SmartAisle pre-engineered edge data centre system across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). The new solution integrates power, cooling, racks, and advanced monitoring into a single unit, enabling faster and more energy-efficient edge computing deployments up to 180kW.

In line with the EU’s Energy Efficiency Directive (EED), the system includes real-time Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) tracking, helping organizations align with responsible digital infrastructure goals.

“The upgraded SmartAisle redefines how edge deployments are done — fast, efficient, and fully aligned with evolving energy regulations.” – Giuseppe Leto, Senior Director, IT Systems Business, Vertiv EMEA

“We’ve made it easier, faster, and more cost-effective for businesses to scale and grow their IT operations,” said Giuseppe Leto, Senior Director, IT Systems Business, Vertiv EMEA. “The upgraded Vertiv™ SmartAisle™ eliminates multi-vendor complexity and supports monitoring of energy efficiency in line with EU regulations.”

Key capabilities include:

  • 24/7 real-time monitoring and capacity management via the Vertiv™ RDU501
  • Modular, high-efficiency UPS systems and cooling with 20–100% modulation
  • Environmental sensors (six per rack) and advanced physical security (e-handles, IP cameras)
  • Integrated power distribution through rack-mounted PDUs
  • Cold aisle containment to improve thermal efficiency

The solution is available in four scalable designs and offers up to 20% higher energy efficiency and up to 30% cost savings versus traditional setups. It also reduces planning and installation time by up to 80%, making it ideal for rapid multi-site edge deployments.
