Vertiv, a global leader in critical digital infrastructure, has announced the launch of its Vertiv™ PowerBar Track double stack busway system, a compact, high‑capacity power distribution solution engineered to support the escalating power demands of AI‑driven colocation and hyperscale data centers.
The new double stack configuration expands Vertiv’s PowerBar Track family with a modular, overhead power architecture that preserves valuable white space while delivering up to 2000A under UL 857 and 2500A under IEC 61439‑6, available in both copper and aluminum conductor variants. As AI workloads push rack power densities to unprecedented levels, the system provides operators with a future‑ready power distribution platform built around flexibility, safety, and continuous uptime.
A key advantage of the PowerBar Track system is its open‑track design, which enables operators to add or reposition tap‑off boxes anywhere along the busway without shutting down power or interrupting workloads. Built‑in mechanical and electrical interlocks, combined with optional real‑time metering, support safe deployment and improved accuracy in capacity planning and energy optimization. The double stack architecture further increases connection density and can scale vertically to efficiently supply high‑density compute zones.
“Power distribution must keep pace with the scale and density of modern AI environments, and that requires flexible, scalable infrastructure.”
— Kyle Keeper, SVP, Power Business Unit, Vertiv
“As customers navigate increasing power demands, tighter space constraints, and rapidly evolving infrastructure requirements, they need solutions that provide flexibility,” said Kyle Keeper, SVP of Vertiv’s power business unit. “Vertiv PowerBar Track double stack addresses these challenges by enabling compact yet scalable expansion, supporting live changes, and delivering the reliability required in mission‑critical environments.”
The new busway integrates seamlessly with Vertiv’s broader power ecosystem, including Vertiv™ PowerBoard switchgear, UPS systems, and rack solutions providing an end‑to‑end power train optimized for modern AI data centers. It also supports Vertiv’s 360AI power ecosystem, designed to unify power distribution, protection, and management capabilities for next‑generation digital infrastructure.
In addition, PowerBar Track aligns with Vertiv’s modular expansion strategy through compatibility with Vertiv™ OneCore, a prefabricated infrastructure platform, and Vertiv™ SmartRun, a modular overhead IT system enabling streamlined deployment and greater architectural consistency.
As AI reshapes data center design requirements worldwide, Vertiv’s latest innovation aims to help operators scale faster and more efficiently while preserving space, improving manageability, and reducing deployment complexity.
