Vertiv Unveils New Wall‑Mounted Cooling System to Support Edge and Small Data Rooms Across EMEA

Vertiv

Vertiv has expanded its thermal management portfolio with the launch of the Vertiv  CoolPhase Wall, a wall‑mounted, zero‑footprint cooling system engineered specifically for small IT rooms and edge environments. The new solution is now available across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), addressing growing demand for robust, efficient thermal control in compact compute spaces.

As businesses accelerate digital transformation and expand distributed IT deployments, many small sites continue to rely on traditional comfort cooling systems designed for people, not electronics. These systems often fail to meet the higher sensible heat ratio (SHR), airflow needs, and operational continuity required for IT equipment. The CoolPhase Wall aims to fill this gap with a purpose‑built cooling system capable of supporting 24/7 workloads while delivering up to 60% more airflow than standard comfort units.

“The demand for adaptable and energy‑efficient cooling solutions is increasing across EMEA as IT expands into spaces never designed for high‑density electronics.”

— Sam Bainborough, VP, EMEA Thermal Business, Vertiv

Designed as a split system, the CoolPhase Wall mounts directly onto walls, preserving valuable floor space in constrained IT rooms. Its variable‑speed compressors and fans allow the system to intelligently modulate cooling capacity based on real‑time heat loads, improving energy efficiency and reducing operational costs. With the ability to manage thermal loads up to 11 kW, the system is engineered for reliability across harsh climates, operating in outdoor temperatures ranging from –35°C to 48°C.

At the core of the system is the Vertiv™ Liebert® iCOM™ control platform, enabling on‑site configuration, monitoring of key parameters, and advanced thermal management. For organizations operating distributed sites, integrated remote communication capabilities provide secure, real‑time visibility through a web interface, ensuring timely alerts and continuous oversight.

The CoolPhase Wall also aligns with rising sustainability expectations by using R‑32 refrigerant, a lower‑GWP alternative that supports compliance with evolving European Union F‑Gas regulations. As many comfort cooling units continue transitioning to low‑GWP options, Vertiv is applying these standards directly to IT‑focused cooling systems to future‑proof deployments.

Vertiv says the new solution strengthens its broad thermal portfolio designed for edge environments, enterprise data centers, and high‑density AI installations including liquid cooling and rear‑door heat exchangers.
