Vertiv to Deliver AI-Ready Modular Data Centre for Polar in Norway

Vertiv

Hydro-powered, high-density facility to drive sustainable AI scalability with prefabricated infrastructure

Vertiv has been selected by Norwegian data centre innovator Polar to provide a fully modular, AI-ready infrastructure for its new sustainable, high-performance facility powered entirely by hydroelectric energy.

Designed to support densities of up to 120kW per rack, the centre will feature N+1 redundant electrical and cooling systems to support next-gen AI workloads. Vertiv’s prefabricated, plug-and-play solution enables rapid deployment and simplified expansion as Polar scales to meet demand for AI and HPC infrastructure.

“By leveraging factory-assembled infrastructure, we overcome traditional on-site challenges and deliver a solution tailored to Polar’s evolving requirements.”

— Viktor Petik, SVP, Infrastructure Solutions, Vertiv

“We are excited to partner with Vertiv on this innovative project,” said Andy Hayes, CEO of Polar. “Their solution enables us to scale efficiently and sustainably while delivering best-in-class capabilities for our clients.”

The first deployment phase will support a 12 MW IT load, expandable to 50 MW, and includes:

  • Vertiv EXL S1 UPS, optimized for AI’s variable power demands
  • Vertiv Liebert AFC chillers with low-GWP refrigerants, offering up to 20% lower energy use

Scheduled to go live in late 2025, the facility will be Polar’s flagship in a new wave of environmentally responsible AI-ready data centres across Europe—raising the bar for performance, efficiency, and speed.
