Vertiv Launches PowerDirect 7100 Energy to Accelerate Hybrid Power Adoption for Telecom and Edge Growth in EMEA

Vertiv

Vertiv has introduced the PowerDirect 7100 Energy, a next-generation hybrid-ready DC power system built to help telecom and edge operators in EMEA enhance network resilience while accelerating their transition to cleaner, more efficient energy ecosystems. With 98% efficiency and intelligent energy orchestration, the platform is designed to support modern 5G deployments, edge connectivity, and sustainability goals across on-grid, bad-grid, and off-grid environments.

At a time when operators are faced with rising energy costs, grid instability, and the urgency to lower carbon footprints, the PowerDirect 7100 Energy provides a transformative solution. It seamlessly integrates traditional grid and generator power with renewable sources such as solar, wind, and fuel-cell energy through Vertiv’s fourth-generation hybrid architecture. The system offers up to 52kW of scalable 48V DC power, enabling network operators to adapt to growing digital demand while maintaining operational reliability.

“Energy efficiency and grid resilience are now core to network growth in the 5G and edge era.”

— Dave Wilson, Vertiv

“The world expects energy efficiency and flexibility with the growth of communications, such as 5G and edge connectivity,” said Dave Wilson, director of global hybrid solutions at Vertiv. “The Vertiv PowerDirect 7100 Energy gives operators a single, intelligent platform capable of adapting to any grid condition, delivering reliable power while supporting the transition to cleaner, more efficient energy strategies.”

Powered by Vertiv™ solar converters, modular rectifiers, and the intelligent NetSure™ Control Unit (NCU), the system enables remote monitoring, advanced energy scheduling, and load management—critical for optimizing performance in distributed edge and telecom networks. Its rugged design supports temperature ranges from –40°C to +65°C and offers space-saving front-access configurations, making it ideal for challenging or remote deployment sites.

Part of Vertiv’s broader NetSure™ DC power and hybrid energy portfolio, the 7100 Energy integrates seamlessly with Vertiv’s IT management, thermal solutions, and lifecycle services—offering operators a comprehensive foundation for efficient, reliable, and future-ready digital infrastructure across EMEA.
