The collaboration delivers a unified global data foundation, bringing intelligent streaming and seamless performance to hybrid AI workloads worldwide.
In a move that redefines how enterprises run AI at global scale, VAST Data, the AI Operating System company, has announced a major partnership expansion with Google Cloud. This collaboration introduces the first fully managed service for the VAST AI Operating System (AI OS) on Google Cloud, empowering organizations to unify on-premises and cloud environments under a single data fabric.
At the heart of this integration lies the VAST DataSpace, a technology that enables enterprises to connect clusters running across continents, making data instantly available wherever AI workloads are executed. In one demonstration, VAST successfully linked clusters more than 10,000 kilometers apart — one in the United States and another in Japan — delivering near real-time data access for inference workloads without data duplication or migration complexities.
“Together with Google Cloud, we’re turning hybrid complexity into a single, intelligent fabric that powers AI anywhere.”
– Jeff Denworth, Co-Founder, VAST Data
“Together with Google Cloud, VAST is building a unified data and computing environment that extends to wherever a customer wants to compute,” said Jeff Denworth, Co-Founder of VAST Data. “Delivered as a managed AI Operating System on Google Cloud, customers can go from zero to production in minutes. We’re turning hybrid complexity into a single, intelligent fabric that accelerates time to value for agentic AI.”
The partnership allows enterprises to deploy AI workloads on Google Cloud TPUs and other accelerators with seamless, high-speed data access and consistent performance. Tests conducted using Meta’s Llama 3.1-8B-Instruct model confirmed that the VAST AI OS delivers model load speeds comparable to leading cloud-native solutions while maintaining predictable performance across both warm and cold starts.
“The VAST AI Operating System redefines what it means to move fast in AI,” said Subramanian Kartik, Chief Scientist, VAST Data. “We’re transforming idle accelerators into engines of active intelligence—driving higher efficiency, scalability, and faster time to insight.”
From a customer perspective, the partnership offers several key advantages:
- Deploy AI in minutes, not months: Run production AI workloads on Google Cloud using existing on-prem datasets without time-consuming migrations.
- Reduce data movement costs: Stream only the necessary data subsets, cutting egress expenses and enabling reinvestment into innovation.
- Seamless governance and compliance: Maintain one global namespace with unified access controls, audits, and retention policies.
- TPU-ready data paths: Optimize AI performance with metadata-aware I/O for reliable, high-throughput access.
- Unified data platform: The VAST AI OS integrates DataStore, DataBase, InsightEngine, AgentEngine, and DataSpace—a full-stack platform for AI operations across any environment.
Nirav Mehta, Vice President of Compute Platform at Google Cloud, emphasized the customer impact: “Bringing VAST AI Operating System to Google Cloud Marketplace will help customers quickly deploy, manage, and grow on our trusted global infrastructure. Together, we’re enabling organizations to securely scale their AI transformation journeys.”
With this partnership, VAST Data and Google Cloud are bridging the gap between hybrid data silos and global-scale AI performance, paving the way for a future where AI runs anywhere—without barriers, duplication, or latency.
