New Technology Center to unify sandboxing, behavioral analysis, and threat intelligence for faster, AI-driven malware prevention
OPSWAT, a global leader in cybersecurity solutions for critical infrastructure protection (CIP), has appointed Jan Miller as Chief Technology Officer (CTO). The appointment underscores OPSWAT’s focus on advancing perimeter-based threat detection through adaptive sandboxing and large-scale threat intelligence.
In this expanded role, Miller will lead OPSWAT’s newly established Technology Center, bringing together research, engineering, and product development under a unified strategy. His mandate is to accelerate innovation in advanced malware detection and ensure tighter integration between sandbox analysis and threat intelligence at the point where files first enter organizational environments.
OPSWAT said the move reflects the growing need to detect and neutralize increasingly evasive threats earlier in the file lifecycle before they can reach users, operational systems, or critical networks. By closing gaps at the perimeter, OPSWAT aims to reduce alert fatigue, improve decision speed, and strengthen protection across IT, OT, and ICS environments.
“Jan’s appointment reinforces OPSWAT’s commitment to leading the next generation of AI-driven threat prevention,” said Benny Czarny, Founder and CEO of OPSWAT. “He has been instrumental in shaping how we combine adaptive sandboxing, behavioral analysis, and threat intelligence at scale. His leadership will be critical as we turn cutting-edge research into real-world protection where mistakes are not an option.”
“At the perimeter, seconds matter. By tightly integrating adaptive sandboxing with threat intelligence, we can stop evasive threats before they ever reach users or critical systems.”
— Jan Miller, Chief Technology Officer, OPSWAT
Miller brings more than a decade of experience in building malware analysis and threat detection technologies used by security teams worldwide. He is widely recognized for his work in sandboxing and evasive malware research and is the founder of multiple cybersecurity startups that were acquired by industry leaders, including CrowdStrike and OPSWAT. Since joining OPSWAT in late 2022, he most recently served as CTO of Threat Analysis.
Beyond OPSWAT, Miller is a board member of the Anti-Malware Testing Standards Organization (AMTSO) and a lead author of its Sandbox Evaluation Framework, advocating for transparency and standardized testing of security technologies.
With this appointment, OPSWAT is positioning its technology leadership to meet the demands of modern threat landscapes where early, perimeter-based detection is becoming essential to protecting critical infrastructure at global scale.
