New IDC study highlights how intelligent, secure, and adaptive networks are critical to unlocking AI-driven transformation

NTT DATA and Cisco have announced a strategic collaboration to help enterprises modernize their network infrastructure and prepare for the demands of AI-driven business transformation. The companies also unveiled a co-sponsored IDC InfoBrief, Wired for Intelligence: A CIO Guide to Enterprise Networking for AI, which provides guidance for CIOs and technology leaders looking to accelerate their AI journey.

As AI adoption accelerates across industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, and financial services, legacy networks are proving inadequate to handle the surge in data processing, storage, and real-time inference. NTT DATA and Cisco are addressing this challenge by helping enterprises evolve from outdated architectures to intelligent, secure, and adaptive networks capable of powering next-generation AI workloads.

The Critical Role of Networks in AI Transformation

The IDC study reveals that more than 78% of organizations consider networking capabilities essential when selecting providers for GenAI infrastructure. Modernized networks not only enable high-speed, low-latency connectivity but also integrate AI into operations through capabilities like self-healing, anomaly detection, intelligent monitoring, and automated configuration—reducing downtime and enhancing user experiences.

“As two market leaders, NTT DATA and Cisco are well positioned to help clients modernize their digital infrastructure foundations for the AI era.” — Dilip Kumar, Global Head, Technology Solutions, NTT DATA, Inc.

Brink Sanders, Senior Vice President of Global Networking Sales at Cisco, noted: “Network modernization is about more than replacing old hardware—it’s about allowing enterprises to lead in an AI-driven world. Our partnership with NTT DATA equips clients with the technology and expertise needed to build secure and connected networks.”

Supporting AI Agendas in the Middle East

Hani Nofal, SVP Technology Solution, Middle East & Africa, NTT DATA, emphasized regional relevance: “Across the Middle East, governments and enterprises are embracing AI to drive national visions and digital transformation agendas. Our collaboration with Cisco ensures clients have the secure, intelligent infrastructure needed to scale AI responsibly and effectively.”

Intelligent Services for the AI Era

NTT DATA is complementing Cisco’s technology with its suite of intelligent services, including advisory, strategic sourcing, software-defined infrastructure, and managed services. Its recently launched AI-powered Software Defined Infrastructure (SDI) services for Cisco products deliver real-time automation, cost optimization, and intelligent insights for clients modernizing their IT foundations.

Together, NTT DATA and Cisco are positioning enterprise networks as the critical foundation of AI transformation—turning connectivity from a constraint into a catalyst for growth and innovation.
