Partnership aims to generate $1 billion in biotech value through AI-powered drug discovery

Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company, the Kingdom’s sovereign wealth fund, has announced a landmark partnership with SandboxAQ, a global leader in AI and quantum technologies, to accelerate the development of a cutting-edge biotech ecosystem in Bahrain.

Under the agreement, Bahrain will license SandboxAQ’s advanced software and quantitative AI capabilities to identify therapeutic targets and develop novel drugs. The initiative is expected to generate over $1 billion in biotech assets, positioning Bahrain as a regional hub for innovation in life sciences.

“This collaboration will harness the power of AI to accelerate drug discovery and attract more investment to the Kingdom,” said Jack Hidary, CEO of SandboxAQ.

The partnership will be guided by a joint research committee overseeing a three-year program focused on drug development. SandboxAQ’s Large Quantitative Models (LQMs), developed in partnership with NVIDIA, will play a central role in generating intellectual property and scientific breakthroughs.
