Kaspersky Boosts Mobile Security with Notification Protection for Android

New anti-phishing tool scans messengers and SMS notifications to block scam links before users click.

Kaspersky has rolled out Notification Protection in its Android app, an advanced anti-phishing feature that proactively blocks malicious and suspicious links hidden in mobile notifications. The tool is designed to tackle the surge of phishing attempts delivered through messaging apps and SMS, which are increasingly leveraging AI to craft highly personalized scams.

Already activated by over 166,000 users, the feature has proven effective in every detected case. In fact, in the first half of 2025 alone, Kaspersky’s mobile protections prevented more than 2 million phishing attempts on Android devices worldwide. With Notification Protection, alerts are triggered via push notifications and in-app warnings—even when the screen is off or the device is in Do Not Disturb mode.

“It’s very easy to lose your guard in a message flow and click on a malicious link. Our new Notification Protection is aimed at eliminating this risk.” – Marina Titova, VP, Consumer Business, Kaspersky

The solution complements Kaspersky’s multilayered mobile security approach, which includes:

  • Safe Browsing – scanning URLs in browsers to warn against phishing sites.
  • Safe Messaging – detecting harmful links directly within messenger apps.
  • Notification Protection – analyzing incoming notifications across all apps to remove dangerous links before users engage with them.

Powered by machine learning and OCR (optical character recognition), Kaspersky’s system can even recognize hidden malicious text embedded in images. According to the company, this innovation marks another step in shielding consumers against fast-evolving scam techniques.

Since its technical rollout, Notification Protection has blocked more than 3,500 malicious links before users had the chance to interact with them. The feature can be enabled in just two steps via the Kaspersky for Android app under the Safe Messaging settings.

“Attackers are constantly finding new channels to spread scams,” said Marina Titova, Vice President, Consumer Business at Kaspersky. “With Notification Protection, users can communicate freely without the fear of being tricked by a hidden phishing link.”

The updated Kaspersky for Android app with Notification Protection is now available for download globally.
