New integration embeds privileged access management into Commvault Cloud to improve credential security, compliance, and cyber resilience
Commvault, a leader in unified cyber resilience, has announced a strategic partnership and technology integration with Delinea, a specialist in privileged access management (PAM), aimed at helping enterprises better protect against credential-based cyber threats. The new integration connects the Commvault Cloud platform with Delinea’s Secret Server, enabling organizations to secure, govern, and audit privileged credentials across backup and recovery environments.
Credential security remains one of the most persistent challenges for enterprises, exacerbated by the rapid growth of non-human identities such as applications, scripts, and automated services. According to KPMG’s UAE Cybersecurity Survey 2025, nearly 37% of cybersecurity incidents in the Middle East involved compromised or misused privileged identities—making identity-driven attacks a primary risk vector.
“Credential misuse is at the heart of today’s most damaging cyberattacks, and resilience depends on securing the recovery process as much as the data itself.”
— Alan Atkinson, Chief Business Development Officer, Commvault
Through this integration, Commvault extends Delinea’s advanced PAM capabilities directly into its cloud platform. Organizations can centrally manage and automatically rotate credentials using a unified secrets vault, significantly reducing operational complexity and eliminating unmanaged or orphaned accounts that attackers often exploit.
A key feature of the integration is Just-in-Time (JIT) access, which issues temporary credentials only when required for backup or recovery operations and revokes them immediately after use. This approach minimizes the attack surface and limits opportunities for credential misuse. The solution also strengthens auditability and compliance by enforcing least-privilege access policies and generating detailed audit logs to support regulatory mandates such as SOX, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, and GDPR.
“Commvault continues to expand its unified resilience platform through integrations that deliver real security outcomes for customers,” said Alan Atkinson, Chief Business Development Officer at Commvault. “By integrating Delinea’s privileged access controls into Commvault Cloud, we’re helping organizations reduce identity risk while protecting the integrity of their recovery environments.”
Chris Kelly, President at Delinea, added that securing the recovery process is critical to cyber resilience. “By extending our PAM capabilities to Commvault Cloud, we’re reducing the risks associated with manual credential management and ensuring recovery systems remain trusted and ready when organizations need them most.”
The Commvault Cloud integration with Delinea is available globally at no additional cost, further strengthening Commvault’s expanding security ecosystem and helping enterprises stay resilient amid escalating identity-driven threats.
