Unified protection for VMs and containers aims to boost cyber recovery, streamline operations, and cut costs for hybrid cloud environments
Commvault has expanded its Kubernetes protection capabilities to include support for virtual machines (VMs) running on Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization, offering enterprises a unified platform to safeguard both containerized and virtual workloads. As businesses accelerate container adoption, the move aims to enhance cyber resilience, reduce complexity, and improve recovery times in the face of ransomware and disruptions.
“This integration empowers enterprises with a unified, cloud-native approach to cyber resilience.” — Pranay Ahlawat, Chief Technology and AI Officer, Commvault
With this integration, organizations can auto-discover, protect, and recover OpenShift-hosted VMs alongside containers via the Commvault Cloud platform—helping IT, DevOps, and security teams streamline operations while eliminating the need for separate backup tools.
“We’re proud to deepen our collaboration with Red Hat through support for OpenShift Virtualization,” said Pranay Ahlawat, Chief Technology and AI Officer at Commvault. “Together, we’re enabling industry-leading cyber resilience across hybrid environments.”
Support will be available to early adopters by early summer and generally available by early fall 2025.
