Axis strengthens edge surveillance with AI-driven audio-visual analytics and resilient design for extreme conditions
Axis Communications has introduced a new line of AI-powered dome cameras engineered for advanced surveillance across demanding environments. The four new models—AXIS Q3546-LVE, Q3556-LVE, Q3548-LVE, and Q3558-LVE—feature next-generation imaging technology, on-device analytics, and robust design elements to support security in any condition.
Built on the powerful ARTPEC-9 system-on-chip, the cameras deliver exceptional performance, enabling edge-based analytics with high accuracy and speed. With resolutions up to 8 megapixels, the cameras provide forensic-level image detail, even in low light or harsh weather conditions.
Two 4 MP models—AXIS Q3546-LVE and AXIS Q3556-LVE—offer lens options from standard 10 mm to 51 mm telephoto, providing flexibility for various field-of-view requirements. The Q3556-LVE also includes an acoustic sensor and comes preinstalled with AXIS Audio Analytics, allowing it to detect events through sound—such as screams, shouts, or sudden changes in noise levels—enhancing situational awareness beyond the visual range.
The 8 MP variants—AXIS Q3548-LVE and Q3558-LVE—offer similar high-definition performance, with the Q3558-LVE also integrating acoustic sensors and audio analytics. All four models are pre-equipped with AXIS Object Analytics to detect, classify, track, and count people and vehicles. Additionally, AXIS Image Health Analytics ensures users are alerted to issues like image blockage, distortion, or misalignment in real time.
Designed for resilience, the cameras are housed in high-grade aluminum with IK10, IP66, IP6K9K, and NEMA 4X ratings, making them vandal-resistant and capable of withstanding extreme weather. Operating in temperatures ranging from -55°C to 55°C, they offer reliability in both freezing and scorching conditions. The models support both DC and Power over Ethernet (PoE) for power redundancy and uninterrupted operation.
For added security, all cameras feature Axis Edge Vault, the company’s hardware-based cybersecurity platform that provides FIPS 140-3 Level 3 certified secure key storage and cryptographic operations—ensuring device integrity from deployment onward.
Axis’s latest camera portfolio redefines proactive perimeter defense, merging intelligent analytics, robust design, and powerful cybersecurity to meet the evolving demands of modern surveillance.
